Life Changer

Austin Hearing Services changed my life! I have severe hearing loss, 80% in my left ear and 40% in my right. I had hearing aids, but they were not doing the job. A friend recommended Margaret Hutchinson, so I made an appointment. From the first visit I knew this experience would be different. Margaret worked with me many hours to tweak my hearing aids so I was receiving the best possible outcome. She also gave me several computer programs to enhance my listening intuitiveness and other aspects of better listening skills. In addition she explained some "life skills" of how to deal with hearing loss in social situations. She even included my wife, since (now we are both retired) she is the person I communicate with the most. I was extremely pleased with every aspect of my experience with my new hearing aids and the service, care and concern shown to me by Margaret Hutchison at Austin Hearing Services.

Over the past years I have purchased two sets of hearing aids from her, each of which was the state of the art at the time. I can think of no purchase where the individual is more at the mercy of the professional than in the selection of a hearing aid. Most of us have no idea what our hearing loss is, what can be achieved, or what is available. A dedicated and knowledgeable audiologist is necessary to select the make and model that best meets the need and provide continuing support.

I have worn hearing aids since 1991 and lived in California until 2005 when I retired to the Austin area. 

I needed to find an Audiologist here, so began a search via the Internet, calling locally, and looking in the newspaper.  After checking around, I ended up calling Dr. Margaret for an appointment.  I immediately found her to be everything I was looking for.  She is a Doctor of Audiology, and I find her very competent, and pleasant to deal with.  She asks the right questions, in my view, to understand my hearing loss, and what I want a hearing aid to do. 

I was particularly impressed with the fact that when I needed to upgrade my hearing aids to the newest technology, she didn't "sell" me new instruments, but showed me the wide range of aids she has available, and found the best match for my hearing loss.  I was able to "demo" a number of choices, and decide on the right ones from own  "in the ears" use.

I highly recommend Dr. Hutchison.
